Everybody Must Get Stones

At some point I must have decided that I needed a single-disc Rolling Stones compilation, and this is it. About half these tracks are in mono, either because that’s all there is or because I thought it sounded better than the stereo. (I don’t think there’s ever going to be a really good-sounding “Have You Seen Your Mother Baby.”) David Osborne took the cover photo at Boulder Rock in Western Australia.

Cover art, Wendex 111108-2Track listing for 111108-2 (all tracks by The Rolling Stones):

  1. I Wanna Be Your Man
  2. Not Fade Away
  3. It’s All Over Now
  4. Tell Me
  5. Time Is on My Side
  6. Heart of Stone
  7. The Last Time
  8. Play with Fire
  9. (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction
  10. Get Off of My Cloud
  11. As Tears Go By
  12. 19th Nervous Breakdown
  13. Paint It, Black
  14. Mother’s Little Helper
  15. Lady Jane
  16. Have You Seen Your Mother Baby, Standing in the Shadow?
  17. Ruby Tuesday
  18. Dandelion
  19. She’s a Rainbow
  20. Jumpin’ Jack Flash
  21. Sympathy for the Devil
  22. Street Fighting Man
  23. Honky Tonk Women

Been There, Seen That

The motivation here came from Glen Campbell, who put out rather a lot of songs name-checking cities and places; I figured it wouldn’t be too hard to come up with a CD full without having to resort to, say, the Doors’ endless “L.A. Woman,” which would be a bit much. The cover is an old, out-of-date map of metropolitan Oklahoma City, overlaid with cutesy freeway signs made with Kurumi’s SignMaker. Bonus points if you can figure out the sequencing.

Cover art, Wendex 111104-2Track listing for 111104-2:

  1. Dave Loggins: Please Come to Boston
  2. Patti Page: Old Cape Cod
  3. Freddy Cannon: Palisades Park
  4. The Trade Winds: New York’s a Lonely Town
  5. Bob and Earl: Harlem Shuffle
  6. Elton John: Philadelphia Freedom

  9. The Lovin’ Spoonful: Nashville Cats
  10. Harpers Bizarre: Chattanooga Choo-Choo
  11. Johnny Rivers: Memphis
  12. The Beach Boys: Susie Cincinnati
  13. Bobby Bare: Detroit City
  14. Graham Nash: Chicago
  15. Wilbert Harrison: Kansas City

  17. Gene Pitney: Twenty-Four Hours from Tulsa
  18. Glen Campbell: Galveston
  19. George Hamilton IV: Abilene
