Valentine’s Day Mix
I wrote this up in 2004 as a suggested mix tape, covering both the glorious and the excruciating aspects of romance, but it was more than a year before I got around to committing it to disc. In the process, the list grew by two songs, the better to use up the available space on the now-standard 80-minute CD-R. The fellow falling off the left edge is undoubtedly smitten by the contents of those Cannon stockings.

[...] I admit to having put together a mix tape with romantic intentions, although it was more a theoretical exercise than anything else, since I am unlikely ever to find anyone for whom to make such a tape. (It’s also not available on CD.) And it takes me hours to do a decent CD, partially because I am seldom satisfied with my initial song selections, but also because I burn at the slowest speed I can manage, in the interest of higher fidelity and stability. (You may not care, but the stereo in my car is a trifle finicky, and this is where I listen to a lot of this stuff.) [...]

Divisible by two…
If you count the petals on a daisy, there’s a good chance you’ll come up with a Fibonacci number. Me, I just get even numbers. (Oh, there’s still time — barely — to assemble a Valentine’s Day Mix.)……
